If you haven’t heard of SelfBank Mobile yet, it is probably because it hasn’t officially launched to the masses. I was recently introduced to the system and I found the idea just amazing. Remember what it was like before debit cards…. we were writing out checks or carrying cash everywhere. Well, SelfBank takes it a step beyond debit, imagine being able to pay anybody with just your phone!
Say you go to a tag sale and want to buy that piece of furniture that caught your eye but you don’t have any cash. Simply take out your phone, hit a couple of buttons and send that payment directly to the person you are buying from through a text message or web enabled phone.
Sound too good to be true? Well, it’s true and since this is still in the beginning (beta) stages the company is promoting it through a “whisper campaign”. In other words, they are only allowing users and merchants who sign up through an affiliate to join in.
This technology is completely secure and no information about your bank is stored on your phone. So there is no danger of someone being able to access your account if you misplace your phone.
I know what you’re thinking, this is gonna cost me, right? Nope, user accounts are free and even free users can make residual commissions off of users that they sign up.
